Tasers in Winnipeg are under review.

Winnipeg Police have taken tasers out of service to make sure the ones they have are safe.

Recently, National Technical Systems, the company that supplies Winnipeg Police Service, conducted an analysis of Taser X26 Electronic Control Devices and determined that some manufactured prior to 2005 may conduct higher electrical current levels than specified by the manufacturer.

On inspection it was determined that the Winnipeg Police Service has some of the models in question in its inventory.

Police say In order to ensure all of its Electronic Control Devices are in proper working order they have removed the devices in question from service.

Winnipeg police are not alone in this move. A number of other police agencies across the Country have taken similar action.
