Dozens of Ethiopian Winnipeggers gathered at the Manitoba Legislature on Sunday night to mourn the death of Ethiopians killed by ISIS.

They lit candles to show unity amongst victims and showed support for the families who lost loved ones to the terrorist group.

In total, 28 Ethiopian Christians were killed by ISIS in Libya, Yemen, and South Africa.

Organizer Ali Saeed said that many Ethiopians are being forced out of the country.

He wants Canada to support those political refugees.

“We are not here only to relax. We are here to work at the same time and build the economy. And we are not a burden on the society, we are forced to leave Ethiopia because of our political beliefs,” said Saeed.

The group ended the ceremony with a prayer.
