Some Manitoba communities say it’s time for the province to rebate the PST paid by municipalities.

The first resolution up for debate at this week’s Association of Manitoba Municipalities annual convention calls for the measure.

The resolution, tabled by the RM of Portage la Prairie, says the PST is a significant expense added on to services, supplies, and capital projects.

It states Ottawa provides a full rebate on the GST to municipalities.

AMM President Chris Goertzen, Brandon Mayor Rick Chrest and RM of Portage la Prairie Reeve Kam Blight are holding a news conference Tuesday morning to address the issue.
