Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect who attempted to abduct a woman around 11:30 last night.

Police said it happened in the area of Harriet Street and William Avenue, where a man grabbed the woman from behind and began to drag her away.

Paramedics passing in an ambulance saw what was happening and stopped, scaring the suspect away.

Const. Eric Hofley from Winnipeg police said officers are taking the incident “very seriously.”

Police described the suspect as a black male, about 20 to 25 years old, approximately five feet seven inches (170 cm) tall, with a light and dark-coloured jacket. The body of the jacket was different than the sleeves. He was wearing runners and a baseball cap.
