If you're headed to the airport on Friday and see what looks like an emergency, don't be alarmed: it's just a training exercise.

The Winnipeg Airports Authority is holding a live emergency exercise at James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

The event will involve a simulated incident on the airfield.

Emergency response crews from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the Winnipeg Police Service and 17 Wing will be taking part.

The goal is to give airport and emergency response crews the chance to review and practice procedures in the event of an actual emergency.

The exercise will not disrupt airport operations.
