People packed inside Dalnavert Museum this afternoon to provide suggestions and ask questions about making the museum sustainable again.
Ideas ranged from opening it with a restaurant to school programs and talking about the tactics of successful museums.
The meeting was organized by Heritage Winnipeg and the Friends of Dalnavert Museum. They say the building is a gem in the downtown and needs to reopen.
"Our plan is to get a good financial plan together, possibly a capital campaign, and have it open for doors open in 2015," said Cindy Tugwell of Heritage Winnipeg.
The museum suddenly closed shortly before Labour Day in 2013. At the time volunteers were angry the doors to one of the city most beautiful and historic homes had shut down.
The son of former Prime Minister John A. Macdonald lived in the home. He was also premier of Manitoba for a brief time.
