Dr. Brock Wright from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said Thursday afternoon that at least 76 elective surgeries have had to be cancelled or redirected to other hospitals, including Health Sciences Centre or Grace Hospital, while operating rooms are being fixed.

A water leak Wednesday at St. Boniface Hospital prompted the changes.

The WRHA hopes to know in the next two or three days when the problem could be fixed. It could potentially take weeks to do so.

In the meantime, officials will meet every afternoon to decide what surgeries will be cancelled or postponed.
