A new addition at The Forks means visitors will never miss a chance to selfie again.
The Forks is now home to Canada’s first stand-alone, solar-mobile charging station available free to the public.
Winnipeg-based Sycamore Energy installed The Solar Street Charge system just outside the Tower Atrium at The Forks.
The station can charge up to six mobile devices at once, day or night, in the sun or shade. Three monocrystaline solar panels collect the sun’s energy during the day to charge up powerful internal batteries.
The Forks said the idea works with its Target Zero green initiative to reduce carbon emissions at the site to as close to zero as possible.
