The former president of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has won the federal Conservative nomination for Kildonan-St. Paul.
Jim Bell beat North Kildonan city councillor, Jeff Browaty, who announced his intention to run for federal politics in late March.
Browaty will remain city councillor for North Kildonan.
The riding’s current Member of Parliament, Joy Smith, announced that she will not be running again.
Smith has been MP in Kildonan-St. Paul since 2004.
