A 53-year-old man is charged after allegedly pointing and shooting a rifle at community members, then pointing a gun at police.

On Nov. 19 around 10:30 a.m., RCMP received a call from Sioux Valley First Nation that a man was walking around shooting at residents.

Police said they located the suspect and at one point, the man raised the rifle and pointed it at officers, who were within 300 metres of him. However, no shots were fired at police.

According to RCMP, the man went into his home after walking around the community. At 4:20 p.m. the suspect then left his home without the rifle and was taken into custody without incident.

John Robert Hall is charged with uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent and three counts of pointing a firearm.

Hall remains in police custody.
