A man facing charges after a fight in a North Kildonan drive thru Wednesday morning is defending himself.

Lutz Joachim said he was waiting in line at Tim Horton’s when the car in front of him refused to move forward.

After Joachim honked several times, he said a person got out of the car and walked towards him.

Joachim said he got out and approached the person, who ran back to the car.

He said he approached the car, opened the door and was stabbed three times in the leg and arms.

He said it’s possible he may have thrown a punch after he was stabbed, but denied he began the violence.

After the stabbing, Joachim said the car drove away. He called 9-1-1.

A 21-year-old man from East St. Paul faces a charge of assault with a weapon.

The 65-year-old man faces an assault charge.

Both were released on a promise to appear.
