Two firefighting crews from Manitoba have been deployed to help battle wildfires, the province announced Tuesday in a statement.

One crew of 20 members will be based in Kamloops while the second crew, also of 20 members, has been deployed to Yellowknife.

These specially trained ground crews will be assigned their tasks on arrival.

One Manitoba air attack officer, now back in the province, was directing water bombers on a fire suppression mission in the Northwest Territories. Another air attack officer may soon be sent to cover similar duties.
