Controversial comments and accusations have reared up in one Winnipeg riding during the federal election campaign.

At a candidates' debate this week in Winnipeg Centre, incumbent New Democrat Pat Martin was caught by cameras calling one of his opponents a "son of a bitch."

That opponent, Green Party candidate Don Woodstock, is also accusing Martin of jabbing him in the ribs.

Liberal candidate Robert-Falcon Ouellette, meanwhile, has faced derision on social media for comparing his efforts to that of Metis leader Louis Riel.
