A man is facing a slew of charges after a string of break-ins at Winnipeg businesses.

Police said 21 businesses across the city were broken into after regular business hours between Aug. 10 and Sept. 14 by a lone male suspect.

According to officials, the suspect entered by smashing a window or a door and then searched for cash and other valuables.

As a result, a total of $22,450 in damage was caused and over $16,000 in cash and merchandise were stolen.

Police said the businesses ranged from restaurants to clothing stores to a clinic.

Officials launched an investigation called Project Pink Panther. Investigators identified a suspect and searched homes at Selkirk, Manitoba and College avenues on Sept 15.

Police said Clinton Garry Quesnel, 37, was arrested and charged with 21 offences relating to the break-ins.

He was remanded into custody.
