Winnipeg police broke up a major marijuana grow-op, seizing more than 500 plants worth more than half a million dollars.

Police raided three homes on April 19.

The bulk of the contraband was discovered in a home in the 200 block of Smart Street.

Officers found 382 marijuana plants with a street value of about $427,000.

They also found 15 pounds of harvested marijuana inside the house.

Investigators seized 136 marijuana plants from a home in the 600 block of Redwood Avenue.

They have an estimated street value of $152,000.

Police also searched a home in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.

They didn't find anything illegal but they said they did find evidence the site had been used as a grow-op in the past.

Three men and one woman have been charged with numerous drug related offenses.

All four are being held in custody.
