Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect after a frightening home invasion in the Springfield area.

RCMP said it happened Wednesday at around 11:50 a.m. They said a male suspect kicked in the front door of a home while carrying a firearm and demanded money from the resident. Police said he left with an undisclosed amount of cash and the firearm was not discharged.

No one was hurt.

Investigators believe the suspect knew the home and did not choose it at random.

Police are asking for the public’s help, as they believe passing motorists may have noticed the suspect’s getaway vehicle. Investigators want to speak to anyone who may have seen a vehicle travelling at a high speed, or anyone who may have been cut off or noticed erratic driving in the 2500 block of Dugald Road/Highway 15 area between 11:0 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

“Our investigators believe that someone saw the vehicle involved,” said Tara Seel with Manitoba RCMP. “No detail is too small. If you saw anything suspicious around that time frame, please call Oakbank RCMP at 204-444-3847.”
