The Boundary Trails Health Centre near Morden has a new patient, one that's been dead for 80 million years.

Researchers gave a mosasaur skull a CT scan.

The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre says this could provide them with a lot of information on how the marine reptile acted when it was alive.

“Hopefully, we'll know the shape of the brain cavity, the size of it, and maybe even get a better picture of what the brain actually looks like,"  said Matt Duda from the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre.

This is the first time a scan like this has been done in Canada.

The scan takes a few minutes and will determine different bone or rock mineral densities to gather information.

The CT technologist says they can blast the radiation far higher than they would for a human.

Preliminary results show a fracture on part of the skull and have provided some information.

No word yet when full results will come in.
