Weekend showers have helped bring relief to the wildfire burning near Easterville Sunday.

Officials said the substantial rainfall overnight means the wildfire is no longer a threat to the communities near it.

The province said the fires have not grown since Saturday, meaning the fire still burns at about 650 hectares.

Fire crews are continuing to battle hot spots.

Officials said a sprinkler system has been set up and no properties have been lost.

Hundreds of evacuees from areas near the fire have been put up in hotels in Winnipeg.
