Students at the University of Winnipeg want better mental health support, and they marched through campus to show it.

As their signs said, the university has one general counsellor for 10,000 students and a six week wait to get in.

A student protest marched through the halls to Monday night's board of regents meeting, where they sat silently and held up notes.

The students said they would like to see three general counsellors instead of one, something a university committee will now consider.

Other community organizations currently accept students for counselling services.
