A person has died after a fire broke out in a Portage la Prairie home.
Police said it happened just after midnight Friday at a home on 15th Street. Fire crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but found a person who had died on the main floor of the home.
Police said they were the only person in the home at the time of the fire.
Portage RCMP and the Forensic Identification Section are continuing to investigate to find the identity of the victim.
The Office of the Fire Commission is investigating the cause of the fire.
