RCMP plan to use social media to tell the story of the final day in the life of a teenager Manitoba teenager murdered in 1986 in the hopes of catching her killer.

On Oct. 16, the persona of Kerrie Ann Brown will take over all of Manitoba RCMP’s social media feeds.

Using posts timed to correspond with the events of Oct. 16, 1986, RCMP hope to encourage anyone with information about what might have happened to come forward.

Brown disappeared from a party in Thompson, Man. and her body was found two days later. She had been raped and beaten, police said.

“My family has never recovered from the death of my sister. It is our hope that through this new initiative, someone will remember seeing my sister that night,” said Trevor Brown, Kerrie Ann’s older brother, in a news release.
