An 18-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with robbery and uttering threats after two violent incidents on Sunday morning.

Police said at 2:45 a.m. the accused, accompanied by a second suspect, who has not been arrested, confronted a male and female on the 100 block of River Avenue.

The second suspect, armed with a knife, threatened the female victim and then assaulted her, demanding she handover her purse. The accused and the suspect then fled area.

The victim was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Then at 5:40 a.m. both the accused and suspect confronted a male in the 400 block of Portage Avenue, according to police.

The accused threatened the victim with a machete and demanded he turn over his transit pass. The victim complied and was able to escape without injury.

Police were contacted at 6:00 a.m. and the accused was arrested a short distance away.

Both the accused and suspect were also linked to two earlier incidents that morning where vehicles were broken into in the 100 block of River Avenue.

Devon Charlie Colomb has been charged with robbery, uttering threats and possession of a weapon.
