Students from the Teens Against Drunk/Distracted Driving group held a mock vehicle crash to raise awareness on the dangers of distracted driving.

The mock crash was set up outside John Taylor Collegiate where students from the drama club reenacted a scene.

To make the crash more life-like, a damaged vehicle was provided by Manitoba Public insurance.

A simulated emergency response was performed by the Winnipeg Police Service School Resource Unit along with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. The demonstration showed how quickly a tragedy can occur due to distracted driving.

Winnipeg Police say distracted driving remains a concern for all road safety authorities especially with one in four deaths in Manitoba attributed to it.
