While some Winnipeggers stayed inside to avoid the snow Friday night, others embraced the winter weather by taking part in a winter cycling and dining tour.

The tour provided a unique view of the city for 50 Winnipeggers and international delegates attending an urban planning conference.

They biked on the river trail, hit up the patio at Promenade Cafe and other restaurants downtown and in St. Boniface.

"We're trying to demystify cycling in our city, showing that it isn't just for leisure, that it's for transportation year-round,” said Jason Syvixay of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “Whether it's rain, even if it's snowing, even if it's a harsh climate, people still do it."

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ launched its moveable feast biking and dining tours in 2013 to promote active transportation and local restaurants and shops.
