Winnipeggers went to The Forks Saturday to weigh in on its future and what will happen to a big piece of vacant land.

The Forks held a second and final open house to gather public input on a large development plan.

Winnipegger Gerald Brega said the parking space could be better utilized.

"It's a nice place to park,” said Brega. “There's so much empty space. They can have more things to do here and more things to see.”

The Forks want to turn nearly 12 acres by the rail side and on Parcel 4 into parks, plazas, promenades and parking spots.

Some said they like the changes, but others said the plan over-develops the area.

City council has approved the preliminary proposal.
