Future politicians and policy makers are testing out government roles in Manitoba’s Annual Youth Parliament.

Youth, from age 16 to 20, have a chance to have their voices heard at the Manitoba Legislature from Dec. 26 to Dec.30. They come from across the province and debate issues including education reform.

Participants said no matter their career goals, the lessons will come in handy.

“We learn a lot about the democratic argument,” said Bev Fredborg, Youth Parliament member. “We also learn how to better public speak, how to debate and how to structure an argument as well.”

This sitting marks 92 years of Manitoba’s Youth Parliament. According to the organization, it is the longest running parliament in the world.
