A Manitoba dog rescue is hoping you can help a young puppy overcome extreme abuse.

Percy is just six months old, but he's already lived through a lot. The border collie-Jack Russell cross was in immense pain when he was surrendered to Manitoba Underdogs on Monday.

They say Percy's previous owner had rubbed hair dye into his eyes, leaving him blind.

He was flown to Winnipeg and was treated by a vet clinic. It's not yet known, if he will regain his sight.

"They said there could possibly be that they would have to remove both eyes, if they find that they're not getting any better. So, by this point, we don't really know what's going to be happening with him," said Debby Kwan, a foster with Manitoba Underdogs.

The organization hopes that doesn't happen, and will continue to treat Percy and have his eyes checked, but the medical bills are adding up.

Donations to help Percy regain his sight are being accepted through Southglen Veterinary Hospital and the Underdogs' website.
