An elementary school's expansion plans in south Winnipeg for eight classrooms and a daycare have been turned down at city hall.
An appeal committee concluded Bonnycastle School does not have enough room to grow.
Pembina Trails School Division Superintendent Ted Fransen is disappointed by the decision, saying they'll have to find space in other schools for 100 students next September.
Appeal Committee Chair Coun. Jeff Browaty said the area is not compatible for a mega school and said instead of busing children to Bonnycastle, new facilities need to be built in Waverley West.
Fransen says five future schools are in the works for the large suburb, but says the added classroom space is needed now.
