An attempt to hammer out a deal over the Kapyong Barracks land could be on the horizon.

Chief Dennis Meeches, who represents Treaty One Chiefs, says they will present a counter offer to the federal government on Feb. 10.

Several court decisions ruled in favour of the First Nation communities, ruling Ottawa must consult the indigenous groups before selling the property.

The Treaty One Chiefs want to build an economic development zone, more commonly known as an urban reserve.

An agreement could also pave the way for the widening of Kenaston Boulevard.
