The dogs that killed a seven-year-old girl near Oakbank earlier this week have been put down.

Gracie Herntier-Clark was attacked by the Alaskan Malamutes while visiting friends of her family.

Dan Fryer, animal control officer for the RM of Springfield, said they were put down Thursday.

Fryer said the decision was based on information from the RCMP, the health authority and the municipality.

Fryer said the dog owners did not appeal the decision.

It’s still unclear why the dogs attacked Gracie. The RCMP said Friday no updates were available as the investigation continues.
