Family and friends of Thelma Krull are back out searching for the missing Winnipeg woman, more than 48 hours after she first went missing.
Lisa Besser organized a search party to look for her mother Monday morning, starting at the Tim Hortons on Regent Ave at 7:00 a.m.
Besser told CTV News they will be sweeping the areas of East Kildonan, Valley Gardens and Harbourview South.
Volunteers have posters with Thelma’s picture and description which they will be handing out.
Family members, volunteers and police also spent Sunday searching for the missing 57-year-old who was last seen Saturday morning.
Police are asking for the public's help to locate her.
They want people to check their personal properties, outbuildings, vehicles and green spaces in the event Krull suffered a medical condition.
“We are requesting that anyone who has a home security camera or a business camera in the surrounding areas where Krull was last seen to review their footage between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11,” said police in a statement. “If any footage of Krull is observed, please contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Person’s Unit with this information.”
Police also asked people to avoid searching some areas.
“Please avoid completing searches in any densely treed or forested areas as Ground Search and Rescue efforts are continuing in these areas at present,” said police.
Krull is described as a white woman, five feet four inches tall. She has short dyed blonde hair with a purple streak, and wears glasses.
In a Facebook post asking people to help in the search, Krull’s daughter Lisa Besser says her mom went hiking in the East Kildonan area around 7:00 a.m.
Besser tells CTV News Krull was supposed to walk to Canadian Tire on Regent Avenue West and her husband planned to meet her there but she did not arrive.
Besser also says Krull later failed to attend her grandson’s birthday party and said missing the event is extremely out of character.
Police say she was wearing an orange or red top, with dark capri pants and dark shoes which could possibly be hiking boots.
According to Besser, Krull has been training to hike the West Coast Trail and regularly does long hikes near Chief Peguis Trail and Club Regent Casino.
Family and friends have organized searches in areas where Krull was known to go for walks.
Anyone with information on her location is asked to call the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
