The number of homes with no water because of frozen pipes continues to grow in Winnipeg.

A total of 619 reports have been filed with the city, as of March 3 afternoon.

The record cold snap is being blamed for the problem.

Crews are 10 to 14 days behind in their thawing efforts.

The city is now opening up 12 indoor pools and the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre for showers for those impacted.

Affected homeowners can also have a hose installed with a neighbour to share water.

The city plans to compensate for the additional water use.

Officials could not put a timeframe on when all the pipes will be thawed.
