So you've made a name for yourself as a glam-rocker, but how do you follow that up, in the ring of course.

His name is Robin Black and he's better known for his eye shadow than eye popping fight moves, but seems he's evolved.

"People who knew Robin Black, know me as guy who wears eye makeup and nail polish and sings in a flashy glam rock band wearing flashy tights," admits Black.

Black still has dark colour around his eyes from time to time, but this colour doesn't wash off quite so easily.

Robin Black's left music behind, and has entered the world of mixed martial arts or MMA.

"I love this sport! I love training, I love trying to be excellent at something so difficult," said Black.

He couldn't have picked a much tougher sport. MMA, as seen in the UFC, is a punishing sport, where serious injuries are common.

For those who think he's crazy, it's not like this is all totally new to him. Black has studied martial arts all his life, and says while it's a challenge; it's one he's up for.

"About five-years ago I really committed back to really hard physical training, you know, Mui Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu," said Black.

Black says this is far more than a fascination or passing fad, it has replaced music, to become his prime focus.

"In the last two-years I've been training full time, and living as a professional athlete, and living like a champion," said Black.

He's given up the glam rock for one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and he hopes to take another step forward when he fights on the weekend at the Convention Centre in the Ultimate Cage Wars.
