The holiday spirit rolled into Winnipeg Wednesday night.
Hundreds of kids and parents braved the cold to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train pull into the city on the tracks along Molson Avenue.
The annual event sends two trains travel across North America to raise money and collect donations for local food banks.
The Winnipeg crowd was treated to a live concert by JUNO-nominated artist Roxanne Potvin. The Holiday Train program presented Winnipeg Harvest with a cheque for $15,000.
Since the CP Holiday Train started in 1999, it has raised close to $9.5 million and 3.3 million pounds of food for North American food banks.
The train heads west Thursday, December 4.
At 4:45 p.m., it is scheduled to stop in Portage la Prairie, opposite Centennial Arena, 390 1st St. NW in support of the Salvation Army, Portage la Prairie Corps.
At 7:45 p.m., the train will arrive in Brandon on Assiniboine Ave, west of the 8th Street overpass, to help out Samaritan House Ministries.
