WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets are looking to a five-game homestand to help generate some momentum after going 1-2 on the road to open their NHL season, but home ice didn't do them much good last season.

Centre Bryan Little says they want to get back to the way they played at home in their first season in Winnipeg, when they made the MTS Centre a tough place to visit going 23-13-5.

Last season they went 18-17-6 at home and 19-18-4 on the road, as they finished 22nd overall and out of the playoffs for the seventh season in a row.

They won their first game this season 6-2 against the Arizona Coyotes but they dropped their next two in Los Angeles and San Jose.

After playing against two California powerhouses, the Jets face lower-ranked teams at home starting Friday when the Nashville Predators visit, followed by the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche.

Coach Paul Maurice says they still don't expect forward Evander Kane back any time soon, adding he won't even be reassessed for about two weeks following a knee injury last week in a collision with linemate Mark Scheifele.
