Manitoba’s grand chief is headed to Ottawa Sunday in a show of solidarity for a chief on a hunger strike.

Derek Nepinak is making the trip to support Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence.

Spence has been on a hunger strike since Dec. 10 in an attempt to get Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s attention.

Spence wants an audience with the Queen and Harper to discuss plans for a forum for First Nations people across Canada.

Nepinak will bring a sacred Unity Pipe to the meeting and said he believes the cause is an important one for future First Nations people.

Nepinak called on chiefs across the country to support Spence.
