Waitress testifies at murder trial
A waitress who witnessed a deadly shooting at a Salisbury House restaurant in September 2012 also took the stand at the trial.
Tina Schultz told the 12-member jury there were nine people in the restaurant the night of the shooting.
She testified she was at the cash register helping two men and there were six other men sitting at a table before 3 a.m.
She said the men had been sitting there for about half an hour before the shooting.
Schultz testified seeing a man walk up in front of the restaurant.
Crown attorney Cindy Sholdice asked Schultz, “how did this person walk?”
Schultz testified, “With intent like he was going to do something.”
Schultz told jurors the man was wearing a grey sweatshirt and “something white” covering his face.
She testified the man appeared to be 5’9. In cross-examination, defence lawyer Martin Glazer pointed out Schultz told police on the night of the shooting the man appeared to be 5’7, or 5’8.
Schultz said the man was carrying a black gun, about 8 inches long with a handle.
"He walked in and he turned left and he started shooting," Schultz testified.
She described taking cover in an office and calling 911. The cook at the restaurant also joined her in the office.
She told jurors she heard “lots of shots and screaming.”
When the shooting stopped, Schultz testified she exited the office back into the seating area.
"I saw a guy laying on the floor and then someone with his shirt off laying on top of him."
"They were applying pressure and screaming."
The jury heard the shooter was gone by this time.
Schultz testified police and paramedics showing up to a frantic scene. She testified one of the deceased friend’s was screaming at first responders to save his friend.
