The province announced the creation of a new school for the neighbourhood of South Pointe on Tuesday.

Premier Greg Selinger made the announcement along with Education Minister Nancy Allan and David Johnson, chair of the Pembina Trails School Division.

The dual French and English school will have space for 600 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The 86,000 square foot building will be constructed on the southeast corner of Waverly Street. The school will include a 114-space day care centre. The school is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016.

Last week, the province announced construction will begin next year in Sage Creek, on a Kindergarten to Grade 8-school, for up to 600 students. That school will also include a 114-space day care centre.
