A pilot walked away from a crash near Selkirk on Tuesday afternoon, said RCMP.

A single-engine Cessna went down into a ditch on Highway 4, west of the Red River.

The plane, with only the pilot on board, had taken off from an air strip on Breezy Point Road. Police suspect there was some kind of mechanical failure.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. The pilot was not hurt, said RCMP.

Highway traffic in the area was temporarily closed to one lane, but returned to normal shortly afterwards.
