The plan for the Paddlewheel restaurant at The Bay in downtown Winnipeg is being reviewed, said officials on Thursday.

Earlier in the week, information suggested the long-time establishment was closing down with the space being taken over by an Ontario-based restaurant chain.

But on Thursday, officials issued a statement.

"At this point, we are very much in the planning process for every one of our 24 restaurant locations across Canada, including the Paddlewheel. The next step in our plan is to look at each individual restaurant and determine the needs of the community it serves," said Bay officials in the statement.

Officials said they would keep the public informed about the plans as details were confirmed.

"We intend to honour the history and the legacy of the Paddlewheel, and the final plan will come to life in the weeks and months ahead," said the statement from The Bay.
