RCMP are releasing more information about victims of a fatal collision on the Trans-Canada Highway and Provincial Trunk Highway 305 yesterday.

Two women died in the crash, the driver, a 21-year-old from Erickson, Manitoba, and a 20-year-old passenger from Winnipeg.

RCMP said a semi-trailer hauling hogs and the victims’ car collided around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, west of Portage la Prairie.

The car was driving east on Highway 1 when it collided with the semi, which was traveling north on 305 and preparing to go west on Highway 1, said RCMP.

The semi-truck driver, a 25-year-old man from South Norfolk, was not injured.

Police continue to investigate the crash, but said charges are not being contemplated.
