The 27th annual Winnipeg Fringe Festival wrapped up on Sunday night. It’s the second biggest Fringe Fest in North America.
Locals took in shows for 12 days at 30 different venues. There were 170 companies from across Canada performing comedy, music, improv, and more.
Old Market Square acted as the hub of the festival, with free shows and entertainment every day. Winnipeg Fringe Festival’s Executive Producer says things couldn’t have gone better.
“We had some fantastic weather, lots of great shows, plenty of fantastic entertainment on the outdoor stage, and we’ve have record crowds all week long,” said Chuck McEwan.
McEwan said at the end of the day Saturday Fringe Fest was just 200 tickets shy of breaking previous sales records for the entire festival. He said sales on Sunday would well exceed the previous record.
