WINNIPEG -

Winnipeg police say they are investigating the criminal complaint filed by former NHL star Theo Fleury against his former junior hockey coach.

Police say they are looking into the allegations of sexual assault which allegedly took place in the 1980s.

They say the investigation will involve other police agencies outside Manitoba and in the United States.

But police say they won't be releasing any more information about the allegations or the investigation until it is concluded.

Fleury recently alleged in his autobiography that former coach Graham James repeatedly sexually abused him when he was a young player.

Fleury announced he was filing a complaint against James Thursday on his website.
