RCMP say a Langley, BC man went on a rampage with a stolen monster truck in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on Thursday, June 5.

Police say the truck was stolen from Saskatchewan and had stolen Manitoba licence plates.

At around 4:30 p.m. RCMP responded to initial reports that a man had attempted to steal a dog from a farm and had assaulted the homeowner who confronted him.

The homeowner said the man then drove the truck, a modified 2009 Chevrolet, up onto the deck of the house and threatened him and his wife before driving away.

Police said they were able to locate the truck and attempted to stop it.

According to police, that is when the truck rammed a police cruiser with the monster truck, pushing it into a ditch while an officer was still inside, and attempting to run the vehicle over.

That officer was later treated in hospital for his injuries.

RCMP followed the truck into a field where they say the driver tried to escape on foot.

The Portage la Prairie Police Dog Service attempted to arrest a suspect who they say assaulted a police dog and RCMP dog handler.

According to RCMP, officers used a Taser to subdue the suspect and arrest him.
