Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said they have gained control of a house fire in the West Alexander area.

Officials said the fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 1900 block of Ross Avenue near Arlington Street.

Firefighters said a senior woman is believed to have left the home and gone to work.
