The hot button issue following the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ loss to the B.C. Lions on Saturday surrounded the health of Quarterback Drew Willy.

Willy didn't speak to reporters after the game, and while Mike O'Shea did address the status of his franchise player, he didn't have many answers.

"We'll get back to Winnipeg and get him evaluated by our doctors and he'll have whatever diagnostics he needs, I guess, and we'll get it figured out from there."

O'Shea said he hadn't talked to team doctors yet and didn't know if they had taken X-rays.

With no timetable for Willy's return, O'Shea said he doesn't plan to change his strategy during the team’s bye week.

"It's all speculation going forward, because I don't have a timeline on how long it's gonna take Drew to get back, but I mean, we've got capable backups."

One of those backups is Louisville, Ketucky native Brian Brohm, who took over for Willy after he went down. Brohm struggled against B.C., though, completing just six of 13 passes for 33 yards.

The bombers also have the option to turn to 25-year-old Robert Marve, who has only taken the field as a running back  and has yet to throw a pass this regular season.

So after their third straight loss and with their starting quarterback out indefinitely, the bye week couldn't have come at a better time. The team will use Week 13 to recover and regroup.

"We've been on a little downward spiral, you know, and I feel like we need this to regroup,” said O’Shea. “We're the same team that came out and started banging, came out the gun shooting and doing good, so we just gotta regroup."

After the bye week, the Bombers will face a pair of east division opponents.

First they'll host the Hamilton Tiger Cats before travelling to Ottawa to take on the Redblacks.
