Residents in a north Winnipeg neighbourhood woke up to discover vandals had shot at their cars with what appears to be a pellet gun.

Cars parked along nine streets in the area had their windows smashed and sides dented, police said.

Valerie Mospanchuk lives on Donan Street. She said the vandals struck between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

Her vehicle and her brother’s two vehicles were among those hit. Police say they have received reports of at least 12 vehicles.

“You’re a victim twice,” she said. “You’re targeted, they you have to pay your deductible.”

The fact that the damage happened on a weekend is also frustrating, Mospanchuk said. “It’s kind of inconvenient. You have to wait for everything to open up on Monday and I don’t have a vehicle for the weekend.”

Police do not have any suspects in custody.
