Police are releasing few details about a police investigation that shut down an Inkster-Faraday area street.

Constable Jason Michalyshen said police arrived at the 600 block of Cathedral Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Tactical Support Unit and general patrol members were dispatched to the area with ARV1, the Winnipeg Police Service’s armoured vehicle.

Officers on scene told CTV News they were in the midst of a firearms investigation.

“We received some information with respect to concerns regarding an individual or individuals, with the potential of it being a volatile situation,” Michalyshen said.

Cathedral between Arlington and McKenzie streets was reopened at around 11:15 a.m.

Multiple people were taken into police custody.
