A 57-year-old man is the 10th person to die on Manitoba roads this week after a crash in Thompson on Friday.

Around 11 a.m., a car driving south on Mystery Lake Road crashed into a pickup truck making a left-hand turn from Thompson Drive South on to Mystery Lake Road, RCMP said.

There were four people in the car. One passenger, from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, died at the scene, while the other three occupants were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman and child in the pickup truck were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This has been a deadly week on Manitoba roads, according to RCMP. Nine other people have died in collisions in the last week, many involving impaired driving, distracted driving, and not wearing seatbelts, police said.
