City crews have once again restored water service to Charleswood residents who have dealt with intermittent water service for the past several days, city spokesperson Michelle Finley said.

In total, city crews repaired 10 breaks in the same line of water main pipe. The frigid conditions made excavating and repairing the broken pipe difficult, Finley said.

Homeowner Harvey Osiowy said he spent Saturday calling neighbours to find a place to shower. The city had two water tanks onsite to provide residents with water.

The pipe has reached the end of its service life and is a candidate for replacement in 2015. There are 2,557 km of water mains in the city, and the city can replace an average of 12 km of pipe each year under the approved Capital Budget, Finley said.
